    The Fallout

Welcome to the Monday edition of the Daily Dose newsletter, our “Fantasy Fallout” day. In this article, you will get a quick rundown of the relevant things we learned from the week’s games from Thursday through Sunday.

We won’t talk about every single player and we usually won’t spend time on studs who go nuts (no one needs to be told to start CeeDee Lamb right now!), but rather, the idea is to update you on usage trends, injuries, and other relevant things to help your decisions with your teams.

    Texans at Jets
    • In the first game without both Stefon Diggs and Nico Collins, Tank Dell converted his team leading nine targets to six catches for 126 yards. Collins should return in the next week or two, but with Diggs done for the season, Dell should emerge as a weekly WR2 or WR3 for your fantasy team.
    • For the second time in the past three games, C.J. Stroud completed 11 (or less) passes. Collins can’t return fast enough for this Texans offense and I might keep Stroud on my bench until his return.
    • Despite marginal fantasy output, Breece Hall regained his stranglehold on the backfield, out-touching Braelon Allen, 17-4.
    • The entire passing offense flowed through Garrett Wilson and Davante Adams, with each seeing double-digit targets. Aaron Rodgers has a history of being able to support multiple pass catchers and both Adams and Wilson should remain weekly starters in your fantasy lineup.
    • With the newly acquired Adams now in town, both Allen Lazard (who’s now on short-term IR) and Mike Williams can safely be dropped.
    Saints at Panthers

    Waiver Targets

These are the top players to consider adding from waivers this week. Unless otherwise noted, all players below are available in greater than 50% of Yahoo leagues (as of Sunday evening).

Week 10 teams on bye: Browns, Packers, Raiders, Seahawks

    QB Streamer of the Week

Daniel Jones, NYG, Week 10 “at” Carolina (in Germany)
    • Another great call as an “Early Waiver Add” in Sunday’s Daily Dose. Jones threw for two TDs and ran in another last week. Now the Giants face a generous Panthers defense that made Broncos rookie QB Bo Nix look like prime Josh Allen two weeks ago.
    • Low-priority add. Jones is my favorite streaming QB this week in an awesome matchup. He should have no problem distributing the ball to his talented playmakers or scoring points of his own on the ground against a struggling Panthers defense.
    • 5% or less of FAAB.

    RB Pickups

Ray Davis, BUF, Week 10 at IND

    Brian Thomas Jr., WR, JAX
    • Thomas had a rough game in Week 9 against the Eagles after suffering an injury in Week 8. Philadelphia has been shutting down opposing WRs in recent weeks, however, and Thomas appears to have left the game no worse for wear. A look at his upcoming schedule shows matchups with the Vikings, Lions, Texans, and Titans in his four remaining games prior to the fantasy playoffs. Those four teams all rank in the top 10 in run defense DVOA, and with the loss of Christian Kirk for the season, the Jaguars are likely to be passing at a high rate with less target competition for Thomas. We know rookie WRs tend to truly break out in the second half of the season and Thomas could be in store for an epic run. Buy now.

    Starts & Fades

This article is intended to highlight some players who may have a positive or negative weekly outlook relative to their baseline value.

“Starts” are players who might generally be on fantasy benches but might have a terrific perceived matchup or game script/environment, or the potential for an expanded role due to past performance or injuries to teammates or opponents.

“Fades” are players who were likely drafted as fantasy starters or have performed as automatic starters lately but face a particularly tough week due to a poor matchup or a lack of short-term role clarity due to an injury, etc.

Here are a few of my notable starts and fades for Week 10 of the 2024 NFL season, with some notes on my thought process included:

    QB

Start: Daniel Jones, NYG (at CAR)
    • While I believe, most weeks, we should all be starting just about any reasonable fantasy option that we have against the Panthers, I still wanted to highlight how much I love this spot for Mr. Dimes this week (again). The Panthers rank dead last in the NFL in total yards allowed, rushing yards allowed, and total points allowed. They’ve given up 18 TD passes against only three interceptions through nine games. Jones is coming off of a good fantasy week of his own where he accounted for three total TDs in a loss to WAS.
    • The Giants face the Panthers on the road this week as 6.5-point favorites with a middling implied team total (23.5). The Panthers’ defense has been generous to just about every team and QB they’ve faced, but I believe looking at rookie Bo Nix’s career-best performance against them two weeks ago (7.7 YPA, four total TDs) is a good example of how they can make even the most limited offenses look great.
    • Jones has some awesome rookie weapons (Malik Nabers, Tyrone Tracy, Theo Johnson) to pass to who all seem to be ascending talents as well as solid veteran WRs to target (Darius Slayton, WanDale Robinson) and he can make plays of his own with his legs. I like Danny Dimes as a back-end QB1 option this week with the potential for a huge dual-threat QB game against Carolina.
Fade:  Kyler Murray, AZ (vs NYJ)

    Start/Sit Questions

Some things in fantasy football are easy. We know we should start Ja’Marr Chase and Saquon Barkley. We know we should bench the backup running back who is only on our roster in case of injury. A lot of the decisions are made for us. However, there are a lot of things that are not so simple. All of the “in between” situations are what can make the difference between a few wins and losses, and therefore it can be the difference between a successful season or a failed season. Every Friday, we are here to help!!

I’ll take questions each week in our #fantasy-football channel in our Discord from people looking for Start/Sit advice and give my thoughts. This article on Fridays will feature a few of those questions and responses, so join our Discord to be a part of the conversation or ask questions of your own!!

Question 1:: Caleb Williams or Bo Nix? (everytimeijosh)

Answer:: I like Williams by a decent amount in this spot. The Chiefs’ defense is legit and the Broncos were somewhat exposed by the Ravens last week. Meanwhile, and perhaps more importantly, Williams is in a great spot at home against a poor Patriots defense. Many people will take the negative sentiment around the Bears and move on from Williams, but I like his upside this week and think at the very least he posts a “solid” game.

Question 2:: Jameson Williams, Rico Dowdle, Brian Robinson. Currently have B-Rob, talk me out of it! (0.5 PPR, Flex spot) (Larejo)

    Early Waiver Adds

The theme of this article is, “Work smarter, not harder.” Every week we will give you the top Waiver Adds in our Tuesday article. However, you can make things a lot easier and less stressful by getting ahead of things with some players and situations. Doing so in a smart way can help you save FAAB or preserve high waiver priority in your league.

Every Sunday I will give you a few players who stand out to me as great potential additions that can give you a leg up on your league mates. Look to add these players if you have players you are willing to drop, who get late-week injuries, or who are ruled out of their games and allow you to move them to an IR spot once they are officially inactive on Sunday morning.

    Bo Nix, QB, DEN
    • Nix came back down to earth a bit last week against the Ravens, but his day was saved by a fluky receiving touchdown. This week he has another tough matchup against the Chiefs’ defense. Nix has shown rushing upside and has flashed bigger games against weaker defenses. The next two weeks he will face the very generous defenses of the Falcons and Raiders and could have another nice run ahead of him. Rostered in only 33% of Yahoo leagues, Nix could help pick up teams who are having QB issues due to the recent injuries at the position.
