This is about opportunity more than anything else. Smith is obviously on a better offense and has a more trustworthy quarterback with Jalen Hurts. Still, the Eagles also have AJ Brown, Dallas Goedert, and Saquon Barkley. That clouds my judgment on Smith and how much he will be featured. If it is best ball, I think Smith will have some huge games, but even then, I like Nabers more. Despite being a rookie, Nabers will be the Giants number 1 WR right out of the gate this season and has a big play ability that is already being compared to that of Tyreek Hill. If I’m on the clock in late round 3 or early round 4, and both guys are available, it’s Nabers for me over Smith.
I personally like Stevenson more as a runner. He’s younger, has fresher legs, and is more of a bruiser than Jones, but he is also on a Patriots team that could be the worst offense in the league and honestly go 0-17. That’s a bold prediction of mine this year: the Patriots will go 0-17. So, even though I like Stevenson’s skill set more at this point, Jones will be my pick if I choose between the 2. Jones still has some gas left in the tank, as he showed towards the end of last season and into the playoffs, and the Vikings have some solid players on offense. I wouldn’t feel good about Jones as my RB1 if I went WR-heavy early, but I think he will make for a solid RB2.
So even though Goedert has a lot of competition for targets in Philly, Schultz has even more competition for his targets in Houston. Diggs, Collins, and Dell are going to eat. The Texans drafted Stover, who could eventually take over Schultz’s TE1 role. KRememberthat Stover and Stroud are former college teammates at Ohio State, which is one of the biggest reasons why the Texans drafted Stover in the first place. So, with all that being said, I’m staying away from Schultz this season in every draft, and if you’re after picking 90-100 overall and looking for a TE, take Goedert over Schultz.
