Philadelphia Eagles 2024 Fantasy Football Team Preview

Whether it was Jalen Hurts’ injury or just poor defense, the Eagles couldn’t seem to get it right in 2023. They’ve added Saquon Barkley at running back and made some changes on defense, which could all be the recipe for them to appear in the Super Bowl once again.

Key Players:

QB Jalen Hurts:

It really seemed like something was wrong with Hurts for most of the season. He wasn’t running as much as he was in 2023, and he just looked off when passing the football. He’s never been the most accurate passer, but most of his value last year came from the tush push, which I don’t expect him to get as much of this year now that Barkley is in the backfield. Hurts is going as the number two overall fantasy quarterback, but that just seems a little bit high for me, as I think he’s more like 5 or 6.

RB Saquon Barkley:

The Giants chose not to pay Barkley the big contract that he was looking for, so Barkley chose to go to the division-rival Eagles. There’s nobody who works out harder than Barkley and there’s no one who gives more effort than Barkley. His biggest problem has been his inability to stay healthy. I think that the Eagles have such a prolific offense that Barkley should have an opportunity to score about 10-12 touchdowns and finish up as the sixth or seventh overall fantasy running back.

WR A.J. Brown:

What fantasy managers love about A.J. Brown is that there are always two or three weeks where he goes for 200 yards and two touchdowns. If you’re in a total points league, he is absolutely a late first-round pick. The biggest problem with Brown is that he is inconsistent and there are some weeks where he just doesn’t get the ball enough. Brown goes as Hurts goes, so if you are confident in Hurts, then Brown should be a first-round talent once again.

WR DeVonta Smith:

There are a lot of people who think that Kellen Moore is going to move Smith to the slot, which may be his best position. If that happens, I think it’s going to give him a lot of space to run and a lot of yards after the catch. Right now, Smith is going in the early third round, and I think that’s the appropriate round for him. He could actually be undervalued, as his upside is as good as Nico Collins and Jaylen Waddle, who are going six to seven picks earlier.

TE Dallas Goedert:

Goedert was yet another Eagle who missed time with injury last season. When healthy, he’s always a fantastic option, and he usually goes off the board as like the 8th or 9th tight end taken.

Outlook:

If Barkley can come in and provide the running game that Philadelphia needs and if the defense can tighten up on the back end, the Eagles can certainly be a threat in the NFC and quite possibly return to the Super Bowl.
