2023 was a difficult season for the Giants. Plagued by a terrible offensive line, QB Daniel Jones suffered a season-ending ACL tear in his right knee. Star running back Saquon Barkley is now a Philadelphia Eagle, and TE Darren Waller retired, leaving Big Blue with many question marks. Will head coach Brian Daboll taking over gameday play-calling duties spark this offense??
Jones’s strongest attribute is his rushing ability, which is now in question due to his ACL tear. Before the injury, he was having an off-year coming off his career-best 2022. It didn’t help that the Giants offensive line was ranked 32nd in pass blocking by PFF and a lack of talent at the WR position. With better OL play, the addition of Malik Nabers, and Jalin Hyatt taking the next step, there is the outside possibility of Jones approaching his 2022 numbers. He has looked good in OTAs and minicamps, but monitor his health closely. He is, at best, a QB2/QB3 for your fantasy roster.
The Giants 1st round draft pick is going to be the top option in the passing game. The Giants were a team already devoid of talent in their receiving game and the recent retirement of TE Darren Waller should bump his increase in targets and usage even more. By all accounts, Nabers has looked like the real deal in training camp, flashing his 4.40 speed along with superb route-running. Consider Nabers as a WR2 with WR1 upside if Jones has a bounce-back year.
Singletary takes over for Saquon Barkley as the new leadback. Midway through last season, Singletary overtook Dameon Pierce as the starting RB for the Houston Texans and averaged about 20 touches and 86 yards per game in that stretch. While not on an elite level like Barkley, he should be a workhorse and get a similar amount of touches in the Giants scheme, making him a very solid RB2.
Hyatt only had 23 receptions for 373 yards and no TDs in his rookie season, but he did sometimes show flashes of his potential. Hyatt has a blazing 4.40-40-yard speed and has been clocked at 24 miles per hour. Hyatt will compete with Darius Slayton and Wan’dale Robinson for playing time opposite Malik Nabers. He is the type of player who could take the next step in his sophomore season and see a solid bump in numbers as opposing defenses will be focusing on Nabers. He is a late pick to stash on your roster for his upside potential in a potentially improved Giants passing game.
This is mostly a team filled with players to fill out your roster. If Daniel Jones falters, Drew Lock is waiting in the wings. Devin Singletary should be a high-volume, every-down RB. Nabers and Hyatt are both blazing fast but unproven. Can Jones even get the ball in their hands? There are no superstars here, with only Nabers providing potential #1 elite fantasy upside.
