Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Week Three

Every week, I will share my favorite waiver wire or free agent pickups in fantasy football. Here is what I have for week one!

QB:

Derek Carr, New Orleans Saints

The Saints offense has been unstoppable through the first two weeks of the season with new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak. Carr is flourishing, and if he’s out there in any of your leagues, he needs to be added. He’s been amazing.

Geno Smith, Seattle Seahawks

He looked really good in a tough spot in week two. The Seahawks had to travel across the country and play in an early game against a solid Patriots defense. Geno threw for over 300 yards, and his top 2 wide receivers had big days.

Andy Dalton, Carolina Panthers

Bryce Young is being benched. The Panthers offense will still suck, I am sure, but any starting QB is worthy of a look in a super flex/2 QB format.

RB:

Braelon Allen, New York Jets

He was excellent in week two and should be rostered even if you don’t have Breece Hall. Allen made plays rushing the football and in the passing game, which is great to see in just his second NFL game.

Carson Steele, Kansas City Chiefs

Pacheco will be out for at least four weeks, possibly as many as eight. It’s a big loss for the Chiefs, but it opens the door for Steele and the next guy on the list to help you in fantasy. Steele is going to be the short-yardage guy and see most of the carries, so you want him, especially in the Chiefs offense.

Samaje Perine, Kansas City Chiefs

So, although Steele should get most of the running game work in the offense, Perine will still see some carries. More importantly, he is going to be the pass-catching back, which in the Chiefs offense is a fantasy-friendly role. I want Steele, but you should have Perine as your backup claim.

Isaac Guerendo, San Francisco 49ers

Jordan Mason looks excellent, so he won’t be losing his job anytime soon. Still, with CMC on IR and now Deebo Samuel out for at least a couple of weeks, Guerendo is going to see touches in a good offense, and if something happens to Mason, he will be the starter. Grab him up!

Antonio Gibson, New England Patriots

Stevenson looks great, and the Patriots offense isn’t as anemic as we thought it would be. Gibson is a good pass catcher, and the Patriots want to run the ball as often as possible, so there is a clear role for him. He had a nice game in week 2.

WR:

Quentin Johnston, Los Angeles Chargers

He’s back on the list this week, and hopefully, if you didn’t listen and grab him last week, you can still do it this week. He caught 2 TD passes and looks to be the number one target for Justin Herbert right now, not Ladd McConkey.

Jalen Nailor, Minnesota Vikings

He had a solid game in week two as the Vikings pulled off the upset over the 49ers. Jefferson is banged up, and Addison is, too. Darnold looks good in leading this offense.

Jauan Jennings, San Francisco 49ers

Deebo is injured, Aiyuk is still shaking off rust, and CMC will be out for many weeks. That is a lot of targets that have to go somewhere in the 49ers passing game, and Jennings is the guy who is going to get a chunk of them.

Jalen Tolbert, Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys looked terrible in week 2, but Tolbert did make some plays and is going to have some big games this year because Lamb can’t get every target, and the Cowboys running game is terrible.

Tutu Atwell, Los Angeles Rams

Puka is on IR, and now Kupp could be headed there, too. Even if he doesn’t go on IR, Kupp will miss at least a couple of weeks, and Atwell becomes relevant because of it. He had a solid game with Stafford in week 2, and he’s familiar with the Rams offense.

Alec Pierce, Indianapolis Colts

He is the only Colts WR who seems to be doing anything so far this season. He is hard to trust because Anthony Richardson hasn’t looked good throwing the football, but based on Pierce’s first 2 weeks, I wouldn’t let him sit on the wire or let one of my opponents pick him up.

TE:

Hunter Henry, New England Patriots

He had a big game in week two and although Jacoby Brissett isn’t going to wow anyone, he has been around long enough that he can run an offense. He gets the call into the hands of his play makers and Henry is one of the key weapons he has. That makes Henry valuable.

Mike Gesicki, Cincinnati Bengals

He had a big game in week two. Higgins is still out, Chase hasn’t had a big week yet, and the Bengals running game has been non-existent. So why not take a chance on Gesicki? He is a very athletic player at the TE position and has a great QB in Joe Burrow getting him the ball.

Zach Ertz, Washington Commanders

Rookie QB Jayden Daniels hasn’t looked good throwing the football. When he has thrown it though, Ertz looks to be the guy he trusts most. If you haven’t been getting good TE production, Ertz should be able to provide you with a nice floor every week.

DST:

Raiders

They are at home and taking on the Panthers terrible offense. They are coming off a huge upset against the Ravens in Baltimore. The Panthers have been so bad that they have already made a change at QB, benching last seasons former #1 overall pick, Bryce Young.
