The best ability is availability, but following Evan Engram’s rookie campaign performance in New York, the tight end dealt with injuries in years two and three, followed by shoddy quarterback play in his final two seasons with the Giants. Following the 2022 season, Engram’s first with Jacksonville, he posted career-best marks in games played (17), receptions (73), and yards (766). His second season (2023) was better as he once again set career highs in receptions (114), targets (143), and yards (963) while tying his career-best mark with 17 games played. His performance saw him finish as TE-6 for the 2023 season.
Engram enters the 2024 season ranked TE-6 with an ADP of 71. His 71 ADP sees him as the eighth tight end drafted in the top 11.
Tight End | 2024 ADP |
Sam LaPorta (DET) | 25 |
Travis Kelce (KC) | 29 |
Trey McBride (AZ) | 47 |
Mark Andrews (BAL) | 49 |
Dalton Kincaid (BUF) | 51 |
George Kittle (SF) | 64 |
Kyle Pitts (ATL) | 61 |
Evan Engram (JAX) | 71 |
Jake Ferguson (DAL) | 89 |
David Njoku (CLE) | 91 |
Brock Bowers (LV) | 97 |
Engram’s current ADP and TE-6 ranking are some of the best values at the tight-end position. His 2023 finish in PPR leagues saw him ranked 1st in receptions (114) and targets (143), 3rd in yards (963), and 5th in receptions of 20+ yards (9). He tied for 4th with Baltimore’s Mark Andrews with an average of 13.5 fantasy points per game, and only Travis Kelce (14.6), T.J. Hockenson (14.6), and Sam LaPorta (14.1) finished with a higher FPPG total. The glaring knock on Engram’s 2023 Pro Bowl season was his four touchdown receptions that saw him finish tied for 12th in PPR leagues.
The Jaguars enter 2024 with momentum, finishing the 2023 season ranked 9th, averaging 242.7 passing yards per game. Calvin Ridley’s departure can see Engram take on a more significant role this season, as Ridley finished the season as Jacksonville’s leader in receiving yards, touchdowns, and first downs. Ridley also led Jacksonville in overall red zone performance with ten receptions on 25 targets and six of his eight receiving touchdowns occurred in the red zone. Jacksonville signed Gabe Davis this offseason and drafted LSU’s Brian Thomas Jr. Still, given quarterback Trevor Lawrence’s familiarity with Evan Engram, it is hard to believe Evan Engram will not be his go-to red zone target. Engram, being positioned with more red zone targets, should see an increase in his receiving touchdowns, and there is reason to believe he equals, if not betters, his career-high mark of six receiving touchdowns set in his 2017 rookie season.
Evan Engram has positioned himself to have another Pro Bowl season in 2024. His TE-8 ADP is a great value at the tight end position, and having Trevor Lawrence’s trust and Calvin Ridley’s departure will bring greater production, especially inside the 20. Engram’s availability and ability to play with a top-15 QB make him an elite option at ADP 71. Since 2020, Evan’s 65 games played are 1st ahead of Travis Kelce (63), David Njoku (59), Mark Andrews (56), and George Kittle (53) among tight ends who finished in the top 15 in total fantasy points during the 2023 season. Coming off a stellar 2023 campaign and positioned for greater heights in 2024, Evan Engram is heading towards TE-2 status.
