Teams on BYE: (Chicago, Dallas)
Here are some early targets that are of interest. For the purposes of this article, I will assume your league uses $1000 FAAB. The newer names for each position are at the bottom of each positional listing.
**Please note** that these names are not in order of preference, so look over the list carefully.
He’s not going to throw for a ton of passing yards or passing TDs, but there is significant rushing upside, and the team is playing better each week. FAAB: $15-20
Maye will have plenty of ups and downs, but the garbage time production will be enjoyable. FAAB: $10-15
He’s the new starting QB, for whatever that is worth. I know he was a Pro Bowler with Baltimore when Jackson was out, but if he was really any good, would he have been on Baltimore’s practice squad? FAAB: $1-3
He’s not much of a risk-taker, but I think he’s a better fit for the offense than Minshew. FAAB: $3-5
There’s a good chance he is starting by November 1. Now might be the perfect chance to roster him before the rest of your league mates realize he’s coming back. FAAB: $5-10
He’s going to have growing pains, but there are seeds of a talented player. I’m not sure how many more games he has as a starter, but I’m interested. FAAB: $5-10
Allen is Hall’s backup, and if he’s available in leagues, you need to pick him up RIGHT NOW! He’s difficult to stop when he gets a head of steam going. FAAB: $100-125
He is the 3rd down and receiving back. Better in PPR formats than standard. Zamir White should return next week, so do not overbid. FAAB: $30-35
Stevenson might be out for a bit, but Gibson has not been given the ball as much as I would like. FAAB: $25-30
He hasn’t played a ton, but he’s shown some burst when he has. He was excellent on MNF in week 6. FAAB: $20-25
With Jordan Mason likely out, Guerendo is the starter. A lot of my high-stakes friends were all in on him prior to the draft, but CMC is about 2-3 weeks away from a return. FAAB: $140-150
He’s the handcuff for Jonathan Taylor, making him worth a few dollars. Tyler Goodson gets some carries, too, so be careful. FAAB: $10-15
He will be relied upon when the Ravens are in the two-minute drill or obvious passing situations. FAAB: $45-50
With Marshawn Lloyd on the IR, he is the handcuff to Josh Jacobs. LaFleur likes to rotate backs more than most coaches. FAAB: $15-20 (an extra $5 if you have Jacobs)
He looked terrific against Los Angeles, and the Chiefs will obviously need to use him way more in the passing game with Rice out. FAAB: $135-145
Expect to see him starting in Week 7, with Ford likely out with a hamstring injury. FAAB: $250-300
Achane suffered a concussion against New England in Week 5. There is no word on whether he will be back, so drop a few dollars on Wright, who is talented in his own right. FAAB: $20-25
He has looked way more explosive than Singletary has all season. Daboll has a history with Singletary, but Tracy has obviously earned touches. FAAB: $150-160
Bills OC Joe Brady insists on giving him carries. With Cook injured, though, Davis was the primary back. FAAB: $5-10
He’s buried deep on the depth chart, and Dennis Allen is frustrated with his inability to stay healthy, but he has talent, and Jamaal Williams is washed. The coaches are saying he will be in the lineup on Thursday. FAAB: $25-30
Aaron Jones is likely out in Week 7 vs. Detroit and I like Chandler to get a few receptions out of the backfield. FAAB: $45-50
He looked explosive, and there is a chance that White might miss another two or three games. FAAB: $100-120
Brian Robinson is dealing with a knee injury, so there is a chance Ekeler might be starting for another 2-3 games. FAAB: $50-60
Denver activated him off the IR, and Sean Payton always rotates his running backs. FAAB: $20-25
Taylor is the RB2 for the next two games. Worth a buck, just in case. FAAB: $1-2
I gave out the Vidal anytime TD play on the radio this past weekend. If JK Dobbins gets injured, they won’t get Vidal out of the lineup. FAAB: $80-100
Mixon is still the man, but Houston wants to get Pierce the football a few times each game, and he did break off a big TD run against New England. FAAB: $5-10
Etienne looks likely to miss Week 7, so Johnson would backup Bigsby. FAAB: $1-2
Ray Ray is a shifty slot WR, and he could see some looks every game. Atlanta is in hurry-up offense mode. FAAB: $20-25
He knows Aaron Rodgers well from his days in Green Bay. He’s more of a DFS play than anything, but with BYE weeks coming up soon, he’s worth rostering. With Adams being traded to New York, Lazard may see less targets moving forward. FAAB: $20-25
He’s terrific in leagues which give points for return yardage plus he’s often out there when Dallas is in garbage time. FAAB: $15-20
Recently signed by the Lions to be their WR3. He’s always had talent but can’t seem to stay healthy. Worth an extra buck if you have St. Brown or Jameson Williams. FAAB: $15-20
He’s the Raiders big play guy. I liked him in best ball leagues, and if they are playing from behind, he has some seasonal value, too. FAAB: $35-40
If, for some reason, he is available after his amazing game against the Saints, pay up and get him. FAAB: $150-200
With Nico Collins on IR, Diggs and Dell are the main receiving threats. Hutchinson is the likely WR3, but Woods is a solid veteran, and Metchie performed well in preseason, so they all might get a few targets. FAAB: Hutchinson $5-7, Woods $1-3, Metchie $2-4
He was Nix’s main target in college, and it seems like with Josh Reynolds on IR, they are trying to get him in the mix. FAAB: $5-10
He’s a big receiver who could be a nice red-zone target for Nix. FAAB: $10-15
He’s healthy again, and Sterling Shepard looks washed. Stash McMillan now, in case there is an injury. FAAB: $5-10
Marvin Harrison left the game with a concussion, and it’s possible he won’t be ready for Week 7. Kyler likes Dortch a ton. FAAB: $20-25
There are a lot of bodies in Washington, but Brown is good against man coverage, and it appears like Daniels likes throwing to him. FAAB: $5-10
With Adams finally being traded, Turner becomes the WR3. FAAB: $1-2
He got five receptions on eight targets when Chris Olave left the game with a concussion. He was a talented receiver in college, and the Saints cut A.T. Perry last week. FAAB: $40-50
He only had three targets when Olave left the game, but I know the Saints like him. Means might be more talented, but Tipton will get about 50-60% of snaps. FAAB: $10-15
Would be more of a threat if Russell Wilson reclaims the job. Worth a stash. FAAB: $1-2
Gray is a solid pass catcher and runs good routes. If Kelce were ever to get hurt, he would easily be a top-ten player at the position. FAAB: $25-35
It’s possible that Taysom Hill’s injury keeps him out for a few weeks until he fully heals. Johnson is the better athlete, but Moreau is a big body who is a great red-zone target. FAAB: Johnson $15-20 Moreau $3-5
He’s only a rookie, but I love what I am seeing as a blocker and occasional receiver. The Bengals are splitting snaps with him and Mike Gesicki. FAAB: $5-10
We all know tight ends are great security blankets for young QBs. FAAB: $1-3
Brevin Jordan is on the IR and Stover and Stroud were teammates at OSU. His value would shoot up incrementally if Schultz were injured. FAAB: $1-3
Greg Dulcich was inactive against the Chargers, and there was talk that Sean Payton wanted Krull to be the starter before a preseason injury. FAAB: $5-10
Dallas Goedert strained his hamstring against Cleveland, and Calceterra came in and performed well. He’s the best tight end on waivers this week. FAAB: $25-30
So long as Andy Dalton remains the starter and so long as Tommy Tremble is out, Sanders will have 8-10 per week value. FAAB: $10-15
Seattle loves to throw and Geno Smith is error prone. FAAB: $5-10
Washington’s pass rush is underrated and their secondary has improved dramatically since the beginning of the season. FAAB: $5-10
I would start a middle school team against Jacksonville right now. FAAB: $5-10
