Fantasy Football Drafts: QB Sweet Spots

Even in one quarterback leagues, we continue to see fantasy managers dip into the quarterback pool very early in drafts. I understand why they do it; they want one of the elite names to anchor their team. The thing is, I don’t think it’s a sound strategy. There are so many excellent fantasy football quarterbacks who go much later and can still give you elite production and allow you to use your first 5 or 6 picks on RBs and WRs. Here are my 3 different sweet spots this season for QBs.

Tier One: 60-70 overall range:

Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals

A Healthy Burrow with Chase and company has the potential to be a top 5 QB, especially in leagues that give 6 points per TD pass

Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers

He was second in the NFL in TD passes last season, and he should throw for even more this season thanks to being more experienced and his receiving weapons also gaining more experience

Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys have no run game IMO, so Dak is going to be throwing the ball a ton, and there are few players who are better number-one targets than CeeDee Lamb

Tier Two: ADP 75-85:

Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals

A full season of Murray coupled with an improved offense has me bullish this season

Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers

He is a solid QB in a great system surrounded by excellent playmakers

Tier Three: ADP’s in the 90’s:

Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins

Miami is going to be one of the top passing and scoring offenses this season, and Tua is going to have inflated passing numbers because of it

Jared Goff, Detroit Lions

He is still underrated, IMO, yet the quarterback has one of the league’s most proficient offenses. He has a WR who goes in the first round, an RB who goes late first/early second, and arguably the top TE in fantasy football to throw the ball to.
