Fantasy Football: Double Digit Round STEALS (Undervalued Players):

QB, Baker Mayfield (Round 15):

Maybe it’s because Mayfield has been a disappointment in his previous stops but you can’t complain about how the way Mayfield has played as a Tampa Bay Buccaneer. The Bucs almost pulled off a big playoff upset on the road last season under Baker’s leadership. He lost his offensive coordinator (Dave Canales), but Tampa brought in Liam Coen to be his new offensive coordinator; Mayfield is familiar with Coen from their days with the Rams. Coen is going to have Tampa run a lot of pre-snap motion, and they also added rookie Jalen McMillan in the draft to an already stacked receiving room. The early word out of camp is that Godwin is going to be moved into the slot where he’s even a better route runner than he is on the outside. Mayfield is going right now in Round 15 as the 17th or 18th quarterback off the board, and it wouldn’t shock me if he finished right outside the top ten at the position.

RB, Marshawn Lloyd (Round 13):

Lloyd’s value is going to push up tremendously over the next two months. Right now, people are in the Josh Jacobs honeymoon phase but don’t forget that Packers head coach Matt LaFleur loves using two running backs and always has, even when he had AJ Dillon, who could barely get two yards from scrimmage. Lloyd was a very good runner at USC and, more importantly, is also a fluid receiver out of the backfield. What makes Lloyd an even better pick at this stage of the draft is that he’s a Josh Jacobs injury away from being a potentially dominant RB1. One of the keys to winning a fantasy football championship is by drafting a couple of backup running backs in the later rounds and hoping that one of them emerges later in the season. Lloyd is exactly that type of player

WR, Jermaine Burton (Round 17:

We often use the term handcuffing when it comes to running backs in that we want to make sure that we have the backup to the starter just in case of an injury. People often forget that we can use this term when it comes to wide receivers as well. Burton is the ideal handcuff for anyone who drafts either Ja’Marr Chase or Tee Higgins. When Tee Higgins was looking to be traded, many experts thought that Burton could have slid right in and become the WR2 for Cincinnati as a rookie. If I draft either Chase and/or Higgins, I will absolutely make sure that I draft Burton later in my drafts, as his value and his ability is just too good to go this late. His upside also makes him a steal in best ball formats.

TE, Jonnu Smith (Round 19):

Sometimes, it’s a good idea to have a piece of a good offense just because the team is capable of scoring 30-plus points in every game. One of the teams that’s expected to score close to 30 points a game this season is the Miami Dolphins. Last year, TE Durham Smythe was on the field almost all the time and was a very below-average receiver. This offseason, the Dolphins made a concerted effort to improve their tight end room by bringing in Smith, who flashed quite often in Arthur Smith’s tight end-friendly offense in Atlanta. On more than one occasion, Smith broke away from coverage and made huge gains. With opposing defenses worried about Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, Smith should have a lot of room to roam. He is an ideal TE2 in any deep league.
