CFB DFS and Betting: Week 13

“Just win, baby” used to be the slogan of late Raiders Owner Al Davis, and there is no more fitting adage than that when discussing the current state of the CFB world. With all of the debates and hypotheticals swirling around who should get in the first 12-team college football playoff, all that teams can do to help their cause is go out and win on the field. There has literally never been more motivation to go do so. Just win, baby. It’s also what we’re looking to do in DFS this week – we’re on a little bit of a heater after hitting big on Greene, Klubnik, and Sheppard last week, so let’s see if we can keep this ball rolling!

Quarterback

Jalon Daniels, Kansas, $6900

This feels like a bit of a misprice on the part of DraftKings. Prior to last week’s game against BYU, Daniels had four straight performances over 23 DraftKings points, which would be well over 3x value for his salary. The game against Colorado provides a great game environment as well, as both teams will look to push the tempo and score points in bunches.

Behren Morton, Texas Tech, $6500

Speaking of great game environments, the Texas Tech-Oklahoma State matchup appears to be the best on the slate for DFS purposes, with a slate-high game total of 67.5 points. Oklahoma State is also a great matchup for QBs, as Avery Johnson, Sawyer Robertson, Jake Retzlaff, Sam Leavitt, and Taylen Green all scored over 27 DraftKings points against Oklahoma State, AND it was a top-2 single-game output for all of them this season. DFS Hero believes in this angle as well, as Behren Morton is their top-value play of the slate at the QB position.

Others receiving votes:

Garrett Greene, West Virginia, $7800

Dylan Rizk, UCF, $6000

Running Back

RJ Harvey, UCF, $9800

This is a slate to let the big dogs eat at the running back position, as Omarion Hampton, Cam Skattebo, Tahj Brooks, and Brashard Smith all have plus matchups and will all make my player pool. But my favorite of the lot is UCF’s RJ Harvey. UCF made a change at QB and began starting Dylan Rizk almost a month ago, and in the 3 Rizk starts, RJ Harvey is averaging 36.4 DraftKings points per game, scoring no less than 30 in any of them. And now he draws a West Virginia defense that just gave up over 50 DraftKings points to Baylor’s Bryson Washington.

Jaheim White, West Virginia, $4600

On the other side of the game from Harvey sits WVU RB Jaheim White. The matchup is far from ideal as UCF has an above-average run defense, but the usage numbers from White are all pointing towards a big game. In what is traditionally a running back committee, White has significantly out-carried teammate CJ Donaldson over the last 3 games. White is also due for some TD regression, as he has not scored in his last 4. DFS Hero sees these trends as well and has White as their top value play at the RB position on this slate.

Others receiving votes:

Devin Neal, Kansas, $7500

Wide Receiver

Brennan Presley, Oklahoma State, $7200

Another great option from the Texas Tech-Oklahoma State matchup, Presley has been the volume king in the Oklahoma State passing offense this season. He’s seen at least 13 targets in 2 of his last 3 games. And Presley does all of his damage from the slot position, which the Red Raiders have struggled mightily to defend this season. Actually, they’ve struggled against defending the pass from all positions, ranking 130th in the FBS in passing yards allowed. DFS Hero has Presley ranked as their #2 value play at the WR position on this slate.

Jordyn Tyson, Arizona State, $6500

Speaking of volume kings, there is probably no bigger one on the slate than Arizona State’s Jordyn Tyson. The Sun Devils’ top target is averaging over 13 targets per game in his last 3 and is showing no signs of stopping. The Sun Devils will have to be multi-dimensional offensively to win this one, so I expect there to be enough passing volume for Tyson to see his usual high amount of targets.

DFS Hero’s Top WR value play of the slate:

Josh Kelly, Texas Tech, $7000

Others receiving votes:

Roderick Daniels Jr, SMU, $4400

Hail Mary: Justin Robinson, West Virginia, $3500

This one is truly a hail mary. Robinson just set his season-high in targets with 7 last week and has been playing more snaps since the injury to Traylon Ray. You know that I love WVU QB Garrett Greene, and I think Robinson makes for a great high-upside stacking partner with low ownership, as a lot of players will opt to play Greene un-stacked or choose Kole Taylor or Hudson Clement as their stacking partner.

The Field Goal: 3 props to consider (Underdog)

Kevin Jennings HIGHER 249.5 Passing Yards

Kurtis Rourke LOWER 221.5 Passing Yards

Demie Sumo-Karngbaye LOWER 45.5 Rush+Rec Yards
