Player Profile: Baker Mayfield

QB Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Mayfield has WRs Mike Evans and Chris Godwin to throw the ball to. Those players are being drafted in the top 30 and top 65, respectively. Baker has an excellent RB, Rachaad White, who is going in the top 30-35 picks overall and is a very capable pass catcher, too.

Baker is basically free in drafts, going after picking 130 overall. He had a really good season last year with over 4,000 passing yards and 28 TD passes. What I like the most about him is that he got better as the season progressed and as he developed more rapport in the offense. I know we can’t compare Baker Mayfield to Patrick Mahomes because Mahomes is the best QB in the world right now. Mahomes also technically had a down season, by his standards. Still, to prove my point, this comparison has to be made.

Baker actually had more TD passes than Mahomes did last season, fewer interceptions than Mahomes did last year, and only 175 yards fewer passing yards than Mahomes did last year. Between where Mahomes is drafted and where Baker is drafted, anywhere from 17 to 19 quarterbacks are being taken. Baker Mayfield screams value right now!

Here is a list of QBs that I am willing to draft Mayfield in front of:

Derek Carr, New Orleans Saints

Daniel Jones, New York Giants

Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers
