LAR WR Davante Adams vs. SF CB Renardo Green
Adams and QB Matthew Stafford seem to really be meshing as Adams has scored five touchdowns in the last two games. Puka Nacua returned last week, but Adams still managed to catch two scores and five balls for 60 yards. The Rams are in a revenge spot after dropping the first meeting to the Niners in overtime earlier this season.
The Niners have suffered so many season-ending injuries on defense that Robert Saleh is doing the best he can with what he has, but the Rams are operating on a championship level offensively so far this season. Stafford, Adams, and the company will be difficult to stop this week.
CHI WR Rome Odunze vs. NYG CB Cor’Dale Flott
Odunze was held without a catch last week, which led to Odunze’s father throwing some shade towards the Bears on X. Odunze has been managing a heel injury since the beginning of the season, but he landed on the injury report with the injury for the first time last week. He did not practice on Wednesday, but this could just be some injury maintenance.
The Giants are dealing with injuries across their secondary. Last week, they missed a few key pieces, including Flott. Flott did practice in a limited fashion as he recovers from a concussion. With Paulson Adebo not practising again, that would leave Flott as the top corner for the Giants. Odunze will surely bounce back this week and could possibly see some forced targets.
DEN WR Troy Franklin vs. LV CB Kyu Blu Kelly
Franklin landed on my “Hate” list last week, but he landed on the “Love” list this week. Franklin has seen a total of 28 targets over the last three games, which is the eighth most in the NFL over the last three weeks. The former Oregon Duck has a juicy matchup against a Raiders secondary that is giving up nearly 225 passing yards a game. Plug Franklin somewhere into your lineup if you have him.
MIA WR Jaylen Waddle vs. BUF CB Christian Benford
Waddle has put up some good stat lines the past two weeks, but this week could be a struggle for him. Buffalo has owned the Dolphins in recent years, and they have the NFL’s second-best pass defense, surrendering just under 170 passing yards a game. Waddle had just five catches for 39 yards against the Bills earlier this season, but he did have a touchdown, salvaging his fantasy value a bit for that game. It is hard to trust Tua and his decision-making against great defenses this season.
HOU WR Nico Collins vs. JAX CB Greg Newsome II
QB C.J. Stroud suffered a concussion during last week’s game, and HC DeMeco Ryans has already ruled him out for Sunday. Davis Mills is a serviceable backup, but he does have a tendency to turn the ball over. In 26 starts, Mills has thrown 25 interceptions, which leaves more to be desired with Stroud out.
Jacksonville made a trade for Greg Newsome II to help their struggling secondary, which is giving up nearly 250 pass yards a game. Newsome has helped the secondary somewhat since joining the Jaguars, but ultimately, this comes down to who is throwing the ball to Collins. I would hesitate putting him into my lineup this week.
PIT WR D.K. Metcalf vs. LAC CB Donte Jackson
Metcalf was held to just two catches for six yards last week against the Colts, whose secondary was without Charvarius Ward, before Indianapolis traded for Sauce Gardner. It will not get easier for Metcalf and the Steelers offense against a good Chargers secondary. The Chargers boast the NFL’s third-best pass defense, allowing just 177 passing yards a game. Check out other options in place of Metcalf this week.
