When betting, it is very important to find the best odds among all the different sportsbooks located within your country or state. Below is a rundown of different sports books you can expect.
The Big Boys
These four are known as the mainstay books that are available in most states and have enough market share that they should continue to carve out large presences in the sports betting space. They all have some positive and negative features but they are the core four, if you will.
Tier Below the Big Boys
These secondary books are available in some states and not in others, have lower offerings or sections, or have some uncertainty about their future but they are still completely safe and legal in operating states. Each individual state will have its own list of books operating, some states are much better than others. There are other smaller books like Betway, UniBet, etc. from England that are available sporadically.
A quick note on offshore books: We do not recommend playing on offshore betting sites as they are not legal in the United States and have unethical bonus promos and deposit fees. Your results may vary.
We call finding the best odds “line shopping,” as there are multiple odds providers available and there is variance between both the numbers and the odds associated with them from book to book. What might be -115 on one sportsbook could be -130 on another, which results in $15 less of a risk per $100 on the first book compared to the second. Always look for the smallest negative number available when betting on favorites, while looking for the highest positive number available when betting underdogs.
