If you follow college basketball or college football, you will often hear discussions over strength of schedule. Some of the top programs are sometimes called out for “scheduling cupcakes” — filling their schedule with poor competition that gives them easy wins and doesn’t give their team a great challenge. This can come back to bite these programs later for postseason seeding purposes or getting votes in national polls. Strength of schedule matters. It isn’t just "if they won that matters"; they need to prove WHO they beat.
