    JM’s Journal

    JM’s journal will be live THROUGHOUT THE WEEKEND

    IC LITE – JM JOURNAL ::

    TUESDAY ::
    • Chiefs-Raiders – Chiefs defense looks beatable on the ground and didn’t touch Willis in Week 3; Kubiak plus Bowers back makes Raiders offense a real threat in what could be a fun, high-scoring game.
    • Jags-Bengals – Classic setup with two high-end QBs, Liam Coen willing to push, and Zac Taylor needing to be pushed; Lawrence could crack 35 pass attempts, making this a build-around candidate.
    • Parker Washington – Top-5 among WRs in target share, team air yards share, targets per route run, and yards per route run; leads league in pre-snap motion and should be priced at $7,200 minimum.
    • Cardinals-Giants – Cardinals offense is aggressive and Giants defense has struggled, but Giants rank 30th in PROE and LaFleur’s system builds off the run, which could drag down the game environment.
    WEDNESDAY ::
    • Michael Wilson – Ranks 9th in target share and 5th among WRs in expected fantasy points despite underperforming actual points by 15.9; still underpriced for his role even in a potentially lower-volume game.
    • Matthew Golden + Tucker Kraft – Golden ranks 14th in target share and 4th in expected fantasy points among WRs; Packers likely forced into heavy passing volume against Tampa’s run-stuffing front, and Kraft has slate-breaking ceiling on 75%-plus snaps despite quiet start.
    • Bowers + McBride pairing – Bowers posted 24.6 expected fantasy points in his first game under Kubiak; pairing him with McBride is like rostering two $7.8k-$8.3k skill players at a discount with a unique combination almost nobody else will carry.
    • Jeremiyah Love – Snap share climbed from 40% to 64% in Week 3 with 21 carries and five targets; comfortable floor of 16 touches even if Giants slow things down, with upside if Cardinals play from ahead.
    • Lamar + Henry + Flowers – Three-player stack costs $22.6k and carried a 213-point pace in Week 1; Titans look like the worst team in football, and Henry’s revenge narrative plus Flowers operating on just 41 snaps with a 44.4-point season suggest room for a ceiling explosion.

    IC LITE – END AROUND ::

    MACRO SLATE VIEW ::
    • Slate environment – No clear top game environment separates this week from the prior slate, making it a wide-open “theory” slate where investing in theoretical angles has historically been most profitable.
    • Ownership concentration – Three of the top five projected-ownership players are Vikings, driven by the field chasing value after Jordan Mason and Justin Jefferson were ruled out.
    • Value traps – The field is expressing high certainty in Minnesota’s value pieces despite limited ceiling evidence for Aaron Jones and suboptimal route rates for T.J. Hockenson.
    • Jaguars-Bengals ceiling – Jacksonville has averaged more than 31 points per game in the 13 games since their bye, but the game environment taking off likely runs through the Jaguars pushing pace first.
    • Uncertainty profile – No single game environment or team is clearly positioned to put the slate out of reach, rewarding builders who stay flexible rather than locking into one corridor.
    RESTRICTIVE CHALK ::
    • Christian McCaffrey – Restrictive chalk after an 83 percent snap rate and 74.1 percent opportunity share in Week 3, limiting roster maneuverability around his price.

    • Jeremiyah Love – Elite talent whose training wheels finally came off in Week 3.
    • Christian McCaffrey – Snap and opportunity share spiked in Week 3’s competitive game, and the Broncos matchup projects similarly competitive.
    • Kenneth Walker III – All-around back averaging 28 DK points per game with 30-plus squarely in play despite elevated salary.
    • Bhayshul Tuten – Elite game environment, explosive skill set, and low ownership with room for his primary role to grow.
    • Chase Brown – Salary has dropped to where it should be and he sits in the best game environment of the week.
    • Kyren Williams – Lead back on a very good offense priced below $6k.
    • James Cook – Highest implied team total on the slate, Allen dinged up, and multiple Patriots defensive injuries set up a potential smash spot.
    • Braelon Allen – Primary back at only $5,200 facing a Bears defense on a short week that struggles against the run.

    POOL READ ::
    • Differentiation focus – these are MME-only leverage plays designed to separate from the masses, not cash-game candidates.
    • Core strategy – lean on a few high-ceiling secondary stacks rather than chasing nine-way parlay constructions.
    FRAGILE CHALK / FIELD TENSION ::
    • Bowers and K. Walker carry heavy chalk in their game, opening leverage windows on the other side.
    • Tee Higgins is cheaper and higher-owned than Chase, making Chase an ownership pivot path.
    • Pickens draws more field interest than CeeDee Lamb despite Lamb’s higher aDOT profile so far.
    • Mike Evans injury timing matters; if active he may be under-owned, and if out Deebo becomes a path.
    SECONDARY CORE-RELATIONS ::
    • Jeanty / Rashee Rice – two explosive pieces at 8% each, leveraging off the chalk side of their game. Jeanty $7,100, Rice $6,400.
    • Ja’Marr Chase / Bhayshul Tuten – a QB-less game-stack pivot at 13% and 5% ownership; different construction around the week’s most popular game environment. Chase $8,100, Tuten $5,600.

    SLATE / BUILD READ ::
    • Jaguars-Bengals anchor – main lineup starts with a stack from the highest-total game on a slate Papy finds otherwise thin.
    • Value RBs and Vikings DST – cheap backs plus a premium defense round out builds after one elite RB is slotted.
    GAMES PAPY IS TARGETING ::
    • Jaguars @ Bengals (51.5) – highest total; pass-funnel matchup favors Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins as leverage off heavy Chase Brown chalk. Stack: T-Law + Tuten + Washington + Chase + Strange.
    • Cardinals @ Giants (44.5) – wide outcome range; over-stack or fade. All skill players playable if game takes off. Stack: Brissett + Love + Nabers + Wilson + McBride.
    • Cowboys @ Texans (48.5) – PROE chart supports Dallas passing; Nico Collins expected back elevates environment. Stack: Dak + Lamb + Nico + Pickens.
    • Chiefs @ Raiders (47.5) – mini-correlation game; Kenneth Walker, Brock Bowers, and Ashton Jeanty are the three strongest individual plays. Stack: Walker + Bowers paired with a cheap QB elsewhere.

    A small loss on our straight bets this week that could, and probably should, have been a much better result. We’re essentially even through three weeks, with more narrow losses than wins we’ve managed to sneak out. As primarily under bettors, the final drive or two has been particularly tough on us, but those breaks swing both ways over a season. Each week, we learn a little more about these teams and how they want to play. Let’s get there this week!

    Another tough week for our projection bets leaves us with one hot week and two disappointing ones at higher volume. We’ll trim the card over the next couple of weeks and tighten our thresholds as games continue to be higher-scoring than expected. It’s encouraging that our human touch has helped us outperform the broader projections, but the focus remains in getting that larger sample back on track in Week 4.

    Chris Bell (MIA) OVER 2.5 Receptions

    Sportsbook Prices + Playable Range+106 DK, +105 CZ, +104 FD, good to -110

    Market movedPosted +106 DKNow -115 DK

    Bell saw a downturn in routes in Week 2 blowout to SF as they don’t want to overwork him too quickly when it’s not necessary. In Week 3, with Caleb Douglas out, Bell jumped to a 72% snap share and saw 8 targets, going 4-67. With Douglas out again this week, expect Bell to see more work against a Vikings defense that funnels 65% of its targets to WR (rest of league: 54%)

    2

    Chase Brown (CIN) UNDER 64.5 Rushing Yards

    Sportsbook Prices + Playable Range-112 DK; 63.5 -114 FD is preferred to -125 CZ as 1 yard isn’t worth 11 cents of juice

    Line movedPosted U64.5 (-112 DK)Now U60.5 (-113)

    Did you know that the Jaguars have gone 20 straight games not allowing a 75-yard rusher? That streak is tied for the fourth-longest streak in the last 50 years. So far in 2026 the stingy Jags Rush Defense is 5th in rush DVOA, while allowing less than a 36% rushing success rate. We’ve seen top rushers in each game of only 33, 39, and 23 yards. They’re also bottom 10 in explosive run rate (7%), where Brown has been ice cold. He has the most touches in the NFL (59) without a 20+ yard run. He’s also bottom half of the league in stuffed rate (runs stopped at or behind the line) at around 20%. So without explosives against a tough defense, volume is the only question. And after allowing Mike McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers to turn back the clock a decade last week, the Bengals now get the wagon that is Liam Coen’s Jags offense. We expect the Bengals to have to keep up, and the path of least resistance isn’t likely on the ground. The Bengals are also more than happy to feature Brown in the pass game in the right matchup.

    3

    Lamar Jackson (BAL) UNDER 6.5 Rushing Attempts

    Sportsbook Prices + Playable Range-113 DK, -128 CZ, good to -130

    Line movedPosted U6.5 (-113 DK)Now U5.5 (+103)

    Lamar is at 7, 4, 6 so far this season, with the 7 coming with 3 kneeldowns. The average winning team takes less than 2 kneeldowns so that was a tough runout, and even in 2 competitive games that would encourage running, Lamar’s still gone under. This also serves as a revenge game for Derrick Henry, in case there’s any more incentive for them to call fewer designed runs for Jackson.

    What makes this slate different from a normal week, and where is the field likely to gather?

    • JM – JAX/CIN is the primary draw; KC/LV is the secondary game with both defenses looking vulnerable.
    • Xandamere – CIN/JAX is obvious; DEN/SF, DAL/HOU, and NE/BUF all carry high totals with depressed ownership worth monitoring.
    • Hilow – Less confidence in game environments this week; JAX/CIN is the only true ceiling game but needs early fireworks to justify salaries.
    • MJohnson – JAX/CIN leads by a clear margin; KC/LV and DEN/SF are secondary paths; cheap core stacks could define winning builds this week.

    IC LITE – SHORT SLATES ::

    EARLY ONLY OVERVIEW ::
    • Eight-game slate – removing MIN and SF from the pool eliminates two of the top three teams in cumulative ownership.
    • Tight end reshuffled – Bowers, Kittle, and Kelce are all absent, putting McBride, Kraft, and Likely in prime position.
    • James Cook and Zay Flowers – stand out as difference-making candidates who won’t carry top-tier ownership at their positions.
    AFTERNOON ONLY OVERVIEW ::
    • Four-game slate – enough angles to work with, but the optimal build paths feel straightforward and could produce heavy lineup overlap.
    • Thin at receiver – two standout expensive RBs and three strong TEs dominate, while WR lacks clear top-end separation.
    • Two elite defenses – SEA and MIN carry massive ceilings and could anchor nearly every build on the slate.
