The NFL is full of talent, but this year’s rookie wide receivers are bringing something special. They’re fast, fearless, and already proving they can compete with the best. Here are a few players to watch in 2025.
Travis Hunter, Jacksonville Jaguars WR/CB
Drafted: Round 1, No. 2 overall
James Gladstone made one of the top moves of the draft, trading up three spots to land Travis Hunter in the first round. Hunter has a strong ability to be a dominant playmaker as both a wide receiver and a cornerback. He has continued this trend playing both sides of the ball in camp, and plans to do the same once the regular season starts. After finishing with only four wins last season, Jacksonville is in need of a bounce-back year and Hunter can be a key component of that.
Matthew Golden, Green Bay Packers WR
Drafted: Round 1, No. 23 overall
After 23 years, the Green Bay Packers finally drafted a WR in the first round. Matthew Golden. With Christian Watson still recovering from an ACL injury, Golden brings the speed that the offense was otherwise lacking. Golden has the potential to be a 1,000 yard rookie receiver.
Tetairoa McMillan, Carolina Panthers WR
Drafted: Round 1, No. 8 overall
Standing at 6’4 and weighing in at 219 pounds, McMillan should have no problems dominating
the red zone and winning jump balls.The only question would be if he is able to still hold his own against a more aggressive defense, which happens on a regular basis in the NFL.
Emeka Egbuka, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Drafted: Round 1, No. 19 overall
With top players like Mike Evans and Chris Godwin naturally getting all of the attention, this could allow Egbuka to be a top option this season. His high football IQ, mental and physical toughness and ball-tracking ability will allow him to make the most out of each opportunity he gets.
