QB:
Justin Fields, Jets
Dallas gives up the most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks as well as the highest yards per target. Moreover, they give up the sixth most rushing yards to opposing quarterbacks as well as the most passing touchdowns. So with all that being said, even though Justin Fields is not the most prolific passer, he should be able to throw for 200 passing yards in this game and most likely another 60 yards rushing. When you put that all together, he’s going to have the fantasy game of the week. Lock him into your lineups!
Justin Herbert, Chargers
Last week, in this very same article, I listed Michael Penix Jr as a Visionary play primarily because he had such a poor week the week before. I always look for a quarterback who underperformed the previous week to outperform his expectations the following week. In this case, that quarterback is Justin Herbert. Washington’s defense lets up a tremendous amount of big plays, as well as the sixth-most receiving yards. When you put all this together, it feels like Herbert is going to have at least 250 passing yards and multiple passing touchdowns.
Jared Goff, Lions
Cincinnati’s defense has been so horrific this season, letting up the third-most passing yards and the third-most passing touchdowns. There’s going to be plenty of points scored both on the ground and in the air in this one, and Goff feels like a living lock for 250 passing yards and two touchdowns.
Honorable Mention: Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud
RB:
DeVon Achane, Dolphins
Carolina is one of the worst run defenses in all of the NFL, letting up the fourth-highest yards per carry this season. But what helps Achane even more is that Carolina has allowed an 82% catch percentage to opposing running backs out of the backfield. My expectation is that he’s going to have at least six to eight targets minimum, and when you put that all together, he should have at least 20-24 fantasy points.
David Montgomery, Lions
This feels like a game where the Lions will lean on their running game in the second half after going out to a big lead, and that’s where Montgomery comes in. Gibbs is the more explosive player, but Montgomery is the player who always seems to perform when you least expect it. After underperforming in week 4, I expect Montgomery to score a touchdown in Week 5.
Breece Hall, Jets
Braelon Allen was just put on the IR, and there’s a very good chance that he is going to miss much, if not all, of the season. The Jets are in a must-win position, considering they have been really bad in all their previous games. Hall should have at least 20 touches against a Dallas Cowboys defense that hasn’t stopped anyone. Hall will likely have about 20 fantasy points with an excellent chance at a touchdown.
Honorable Mention: Woody Marks, Alvin Kamara
WR:
Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Seahawks
The one thing that we know is that Tampa Bay loves to run a Cover 2 zone defense. JSN is one of the best receivers in the game against zone coverage. We know that Tampa Bay is very hard to run against, so Sam Donald is going to have to go outside of his comfort zone and throw the football more than he wants. His first look on almost every drop back is JSN, who will likely have 100 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Jaylen Waddle, Dolphins
Last week was a horrible week for Dolphins fans as Tyreek Hill dislocated his kneecap and will be gone for the rest of the season. This gives the WR1 opportunity to Waddle, who should be the recipient of almost 40% of all drop-backs. Look for him to dominate the Panthers defense to the tune of 80 yards and a score.
Ladd McConkey, Chargers
One of the biggest disappointments of this young season has been the play of McConkey. Not only has he dropped some passes that he normally catches, but he has been upstaged by both Johnston and Allen. That changes this week against a Commanders defense that has struggled against slot receivers. Look for McConkey to be Herbert’s favorite target and get 90 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Honorable Mention: Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson
TE:
Jake Ferguson, Cowboys
Since the injury to Lamb, Ferguson has been a target monster for the Cowboys. In what should be a very wide-open game against the Jets, look for Ferguson to dominate the middle of the field. Darren Waller had two touchdowns last week against this Jets defense, and Ferguson is the clear second receiving option in this offense. He should have about 16-18 fantasy points this week.
Dalton Schultz, Texans
Baltimore has the fourth-worst DVOA against opposing tight ends and has given up the fourth-most receiving yards. Even crazier is the 96.3% catch percentage that opposing tight ends have had against the Ravens defense. CJ Stroud has been looking for another alternative to Nico Collins, and I think he finds that alternative this week with Schultz, who will have 60 yards receiving and a touchdown.
Darren Waller, Dolphins
After missing the first three weeks with an injury, Waller came back and had a sensational game on Monday night against the Jets, scoring two touchdowns. Miami plays Carolina this week, who has allowed the worst DVOA to opposing tight ends as well as the second-most receiving yards. With Tyreek Hill out for the season, Miami is going to need Waller to step up and continue his good play. Let’s lock Waller in as a Visionary play and for a touchdown.
Honorable Mention: Mason Taylor, Brenton Strange
