We’re back for another exciting week of NFL football as we get ready to dive into the waiver wire to find some gems. With many fantasy owners checking out because they’ve missed the playoffs, this could be your chance to add some defensive players that will help you win this season. That means you’ll have less competition to compete with, and you could even find a dropped player that you could use on defense. LB Germaine Pratt, Indianapolis Colts
Germaine Pratt has had a great season for a guy who plays around or under 90 percent of snaps. He is also around 22 percent owned, so he is available in most leagues. With quarterback Daniel Jones going down for the season, the Colts’ defense could be in the field more, which would lead to more tackles for Pratt. Pick him up today if you’re looking for a linebacker this week.
LB Shaq Thompson, Buffalo Bills
Over the years, the Bills have been plagued with injuries on the defensive side of the ball for the past couple of years, with this year being the same. That has been because Shaq Thompson has been in and out of the lineup a couple of times, with his most recent injury keeping him out for three weeks. At seven percent owned, Thompson has strengthened their defense and you can do the same for your defense if you’re looking for a linebacker who can tackle and rush the passer.
LB Cody Simon, Arizona Cardinals
Rookie Cody Simon finally received a chance to shine in week 10 and hasn’t played under 100 percent of the snaps since he took over the spot. Simon is only two percent owned and will be in a defensive game against the Texans this week. I would add him immediately if you need another linebacker, and if you’re in a dynasty league, you should pick him up for next year.
DL Cam Heyward, Pittsburgh Steelers
It’s the playoffs for your team, and the Steelers are desperate as well. That means Cam Heyward is going to be on fire until the Steelers make it, or are eliminated. Heyward is only owned in nine percent of leagues mostly because of his age. However, he’s been a big part of the Steelers defense for years and is just as or more consistent with tackles from the defensive line position. So if you’re looking for your team to push on through the playoffs, Heyward may be your missing link.
DB Paulson Adebo, New York Giants
Paulson Adebo has missed most of the season, but when he’s in the lineup, he’s great. In his first real game back, Adebo played 100 percent of snaps and recorded ten tackles. Adebo will continue this dominance for the rest of the year, and at 18 percent owned, he could be available in your leagues. Pick him up and be ready to win your championship with a player most have forgotten about due to his injury.
