Doc’s Prescription Notes for Week 13, 2025
Green Bay def Detroit 31-24
Green Bay decisively defeated Detroit on Thanksgiving behind Jordan Love’s 234 yards passing and four touchdowns. Love found Dontayvion Wicks for 94 yards and two touchdowns and Christian Watson for 80 yards and a touchdown. More impressive was Green Bay’s defense, which pressured Jared Goff all game long and sacked him three times. If Love continues to play at this level, Green Bay is going to be a very difficult team to beat in the NFC.
Detroit is having severe problems with their offensive line as they just can’t seem to get the push that they used to because of injuries. Speaking of injuries, Amon-Ra St. Brown left the game with an injury and might not be back in Week 14, but the team is not sure of his status yet. In his absence, Jameson Williams had seven receptions for 144 yards and a touchdown. The biggest problem was that the Lions secondary got beaten all game long by the Packers’ receivers. This has been the Achilles heel for Detroit for the past few seasons under Dan Campbell.
Dallas def Kansas City 31-28
A lot of credit needs to go out to Jerry Jones, who has made the right trades to improve Dallas’s defense considerably from where the team was just about eight weeks ago. Dallas had three sacks, but more importantly, they were tough against the run and forced Patrick Mahomes out of the pocket. Dak Prescott had 320 yards passing and two touchdowns, and CeeDee Lamb had a much better game than he did in Week 12, catching seven passes for 112 yards and a touchdown. Dallas is still on the outside looking in on the playoffs, but they are inching closer and closer.
It really feels like Kansas City’s season is hanging by a thread. The Chiefs just can’t get enough done offensively, as Patrick Mahomes doesn’t have enough time to throw because the Chiefs offensive line is not very good. They have ill-timed penalties, and they make a lot of mental mistakes. Moreover, the Chiefs run game was terrible as Kareem Hunt had 58 yards rushing and Isaiah Pacheco was a non-entity. The only bright spot for Kansas City was Rashee Rice, who had eight catches for 92 yards and two touchdowns.
Cincinnati def Baltimore 32-14
Joe Burrow returned to the Cincinnati lineup and led the Bengals to a surprise road win over Baltimore. Burrow finished with 261 passing yards and two touchdowns. More impressive was the Bengals defense which, had two sacks, one interception, and three fumble recoveries. If the Bengals continue to play inspired defense like this they might be a spoiler down the stretch.
Something seems to be very wrong with Lamar Jackson. He threw for 246 yards and didn’t have a touchdown and only rushed for 27 yards. What was even worse was that Derrick Henry got off to a very strong start, and then the team took him out, and he only finished the game with 10 carries. When Henry is not getting enough touches, Baltimore is not going to be producing at their highest offensive level. The only bright spot for Baltimore was Isaiah Likely who had five catches for 95 yards.
Chicago def Philadelphia 24-15
In a very windy game, Chicago shocked Philadelphia for their 5th straight win. Caleb Williams had 154 yards and a touchdown, but even more impressive was the Bears 281 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Both Kyle Monangai and DeAndre Swift had touchdowns, and both ran for over 125 yards. When the Bears are running like this, they are very difficult to beat.
Saquon Barkley only had 56 yards rushing as the offensive line could not open up any holes for him. Jalen Hurts looked off all game long, finishing with 230 yards and two touchdowns. The only bright spot for Philadelphia was AJ Brown, who had 10 catches for 132 yards and two touchdowns. Brown kept Philadelphia close throughout, but the Eagles defense just couldn’t stop the Bears’ running attack.
San Francisco def Cleveland 26-8
Brock Purdy played well as he threw for 168 yards and a touchdown and ran for a touchdown as well. The weather conditions were very tough, and this was more of a defensive battle. To their credit, San Francisco’s defense played probably its best game of the season as they sacked Cleveland three times and pressured Sanders throughout the game.
Cleveland ran the ball effectively, including Quinshon Judkins, who had 91 yards, but they weren’t able to pass the ball in the difficult conditions. Harold Fannin Jr had three catches for 43 yards and a touchdown, but no Browns receiver had more than three receptions on the day. Even the Browns defense wasn’t able to get to Brock Purdy, as it only had one sack, which is very unusual.
Jacksonville def Tennessee 25-3
Jacksonville continues to play at a high level behind rookie coach Liam Coen. Trevor Lawrence threw for 229 yards and two touchdowns, and even though Jacksonville’s running game couldn’t do much, Lawrence was able to make key plays in critical situations. Jakobi Meyers had six catches for 90 yards and a touchdown to lead the offense, and the Jacksonville pass rush did a very good job containing Cam Ward. It feels like the Jaguars defense has gotten better with each passing week which will be helpful as they try to seal a playoff berth.
It feels like Tennessee regressed from last week’s solid effort. Tony Pollard ran for 60 yards, but otherwise, there was very little offense to speak of. Tennessee still lacks a good wide receiver to help Ward. 10 of Ward’s 24 completions went to tight ends which is just too many. Drafting a wide receiver like Jeremiah Smith is integral for Ward’s continued development.
Houston def Indianapolis 20-16
Houston pulled off the big road win by upsetting Indianapolis, which had not lost a game at home all year long. CJ Stroud returned from injury and threw for 276 yards. Nico Collins had five catches for 98 yards and also ran for a touchdown. The Texans defense didn’t sack Daniel Jones nor did they have any interceptions but they played very aggressively and suffocated the Colts when they needed to on critical downs.
Indianapolis goes as Jonathan Taylor goes. Taylor had 21 carries for 85 yards, but he really never had any big plays when the Colts needed them. Daniel Jones threw for 201 yards and two touchdowns, but couldn’t use his mobility due to his leg injury. The Colts played well defensively, containing CJ Stroud, but they couldn’t make any big stops when they needed to.
Miami def New Orleans 21-17
Arguably, De’Veon Achane has become one of the top three or four running backs in the league. Achane had 134 yards and a touchdown and led Miami to the home victory. Darren Waller returned from the IR and had two receptions for 47 yards. To Miami’s credit, their defense played a whole lot better, sacking New Orleans four times and intercepting them once.
New Orleans looks completely lost on offense. Tyler Shough threw for 239 yards and two touchdowns, but he just couldn’t get the ball to his receivers when he needed to. Devaughn Vele finished with eight receptions for 93 yards and a touchdown and looked very good. It’ll be interesting to see if he can develop into a WR2 as the season moves on. Devin Neal finally had the chance to lead the running game with Alvin Kamara injured and finished with 47 yards on 14 carries.
New York Jets def Atlanta 27-24
Nick Folk had a 56-yard field goal on the final play of the game to lead the Jets to a victory. Tyrod Taylor finished with 172 passing yards and a touchdown, and he also ran for 44 yards and a touchdown. The big playmaker for the Jets was Adonai Mitchell, who had eight catches for 102 yards and a touchdown. This was a long time coming, as Mitchell has led the NFL in air yards this season and now might be one of the best waiver wire pickups of the year.
Atlanta’s season is effectively over. Kirk Cousins threw for 234 yards and a touchdown, but without Drake London, their passing game suffered. Once again, the star for Atlanta was Bijan Robinson, who had 193 total yards from scrimmage and a touchdown. Atlanta fixed their defense last offseason and now they have to continue to work on their offensive line and bring in another young wide receiver for Michael Penix.
Carolina def Los Angeles Rams 31-28
The NFL is a league filled with parity. I told everybody on Sirius XM fantasy sports radio that Carolina was going to keep this game close, and they did. The NFL is hopelessly unpredictable that way. Bryce Young threw for three touchdowns, and the Carolina defense got the Rams to turn the ball over multiple times and had a defensive touchdown as well. If Carolina continues to play like this, they might have a real chance to make the playoffs.
Matthew Stafford had his worst game of the season, throwing for 243 yards and two touchdowns and two interceptions. The Rams ran the ball really well, especially Blake Corum, who had 81 yards and a touchdown. But really, it was the Rams offensive line that let the team down as Carolina pressured Stafford all game long and sacked him twice. If the Rams can’t get better pass protection, they’re not going to be able to advance deep into the playoffs.
Tampa Bay def Arizona 20-17
Bucky Irving returned to the Tampa lineup and ran for 61 yards and a touchdown, and also caught two passes for 20 yards. Baker Mayfield played efficiently, but he didn’t have to throw a ton and had 194 yards and a touchdown. Chris Godwin played his best game of the season, catching three passes for 78 yards, but it really was the Tampa Bay defense that was the star as they sacked Arizona twice, intercepted Jacoby Brissett once, and pressured Brissett all game long.
Arizona’s Marvin Harrison Jr returned from an injury with six catches for 69 yards, but then left the game with a heel injury and never came back. If he is out, Michael Wilson is a potential league winner. Trey McBride had eight catches for 82 yards and a touchdown and is, without a doubt, the number one tight end in the NFL.
Seattle def Minnesota 26-0
Seattle played its worst offensive game of the season as Sam Darnold only threw for 128 yards and didn’t have a touchdown pass. JSN had four targets in the game and had two receptions for 23 yards. Seattle excelled on defense as they sacked Minnesota four times and intercepted Minnesota four times as well. Seattle gets an amazing amount of pressure on the QB, and their defense looks like they are primed and ready to make a deep run in the NFC playoffs.
At this point, Minnesota needs to do some real reflection, as their quarterback play is awful. Max Brosmer took over for an injured JJ McCarthy and threw for 126 yards and had four interceptions. Star receiver Justin Jefferson was only able to get two catches for 4 yards, and Jordan Addison had five catches for 36 yards. Aaron Jones left the game with a shoulder injury, and it looks like it was pretty serious, and he did not return.
Los Angeles Chargers def Las Vegas 31-14
This was a costly win for the Chargers as Justin Herbert broke a bone in his left hand and will have surgery this week. Herbert led the Chargers with 151 passing yards and two touchdowns, but the big star was Kimani Vidal, who had 126 yards rushing and a touchdown. Omarion Hampton is expected to play next week, and the Chargers may lean on their running game, especially if Herbert has to miss time.
At this point, the season can not end soon enough for Las Vegas. The only bright spot was Brock Bowers, who had four catches for 63 yards and two touchdowns. It feels like the Pete Carroll hire was a terrible idea, and the Raiders need to clean house as soon as the season is over.
Buffalo def Pittsburgh 26-7
Buffalo completely dominated as they ran for 249 yards, which set a record in Pittsburgh’s stadium. Josh Allen threw for 123 yards and a touchdown and also had one on the ground. But it really was the Bills defense that played one of their better games of the season. They were able to get excellent pressure on Aaron Rodgers and forced him into some bad throws. Buffalo is going to have to continue to play defense at this type of level if they want to make the playoffs.
The only thing keeping Pittsburgh alive is the fact that they play in one of the worst divisions in the league. Aaron Rodgers looked completely off and only threw for 117 yards. The lone bright spot was Jaylen Warren, who had 35 yards and a touchdown. Pittsburgh looked like a team that was going through the motions, which is a huge problem in Week 13. Look for them to rebound next week.
Denver def Washington 27-26 OT
In a terrific Sunday night game, Denver once again pulled out a close victory, led by Bo Nix’s 321 passing yards and R.J. Harvey’s two rushing TDs. Evan Engram finally showed up for Denver, catching 6 passes for 79 yards, and Courtland Sutton caught a TD pass. Without JK Dobbins, Denver is way more reliant on Bo Nix’s arm, which might end up being a very good thing, as Denver will likely go as far in the playoffs as Nix and their defense takes them.
Washington put up a game effort behind Marcus Mariota’s 294 yards passing and 44 yards rushing. Mariota threw 2 TD passes, including one to Terry McLaurin, who returned to action after missing weeks with an injury. TMC looked like his old self, getting 14 targets and finishing 7 for 96. Chris Rodriguez led the team in rushing with 41 yards and a TD and seems to be the RB1 for now.
