Data (2022-2024)

We’re going to analyze the previous three years’ worth of data, using the Milly Maker as our dataset. We’ll go over the top-level data before introducing some interesting trends I pulled from the dataset, with an aim of clearly defining the “why” behind some of the recent trends – we’re hunting for causation and not simply looking to be descriptive here. I think it’s easiest to drop the meaningful data in bullet point format to present it in the most digestible manner.

  • Of the 51 main slates during the previous three seasons (not counting the last week of the season), 18 winners (35.3%) utilized double-stack primaries (quarterback plus two skill position players)
  • 22 winners (43.1%) utilized skinny stacks with no bring-back (quarterback plus one skill position player)
  • Correlated bring-backs were present on 17 winning rosters (33.3%)
  • Naked QB found its way onto six winning rosters (11.8%)
  • TE was included in a primary stack on 12 (23.5%)
  • RB was included in a primary stack on six (11.8%)
  • Four total winners (7.8%) utilized team over-stacks (quarterback plus three or more skill position players).·  Three winners (5.9%) included a game over-stack (four or more skill position players from the same game).

2024 notes

QUARTERBACK
  • In 2024, there were 30 instances of a QB scoring 30 or more fantasy points. Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, Jalen Hurts, and Jayden Daniels were responsible for 17 of those occurrences.
  • Jared Goff was the only other QB outside of the top five to score 30 or more fantasy points more than once (twice).
  • Of the 34 quarterbacks in 2024 to finish a week at the top two in scoring, only six times did they fail to bring a skill position player with them into the top six at their respective position. Those six instances were accounted for by Josh Allen (three), Jalen Hurts (two), and Jayden Daniels (one).
