First off, the 2022 and 2023 seasons marked the lowest league-wide scoring output since 2017, including the lowest and third lowest-scoring seasons since 2008. League-wide scoring rebounded in 2024 with teams averaging 2.55 touchdowns per game, which was a marked improvement over the previous two seasons but still fell short of the “COVID years” of 2020 and 2021.
