At its core, DFS is a game of variance manipulation. Every team and player in the player pool is going to carry a weekly range of outcomes heavily influenced by both statistical variance and aspects of the sport that are beyond our control. Some players will have their potential data points tightly clustered about their mean, while others will be more spread out (higher variance). Game environments will be influenced by weather, coaching decisions, player mistakes, blown coverages, game management, explosive plays, and more, all of which we have little to no control over.
