After a slow week one in the NFL, week two decided to show up with a pick me up as many games went over with multiple players scoring more than once. That’s not including the injuries that led to what happened with Joe Burrow. This is why we always say the draft alone doesn’t win your leagues, which leads to why the waiver wire is so important. Last week went great defensively, but like always, we are here to help find your team’s serviceable replacements. That starts with the players mentioned in this article, as well as the discussions we have in the Subs-Only Discord at Dr. Roto. For now, let’s get to the meat and potatoes that all of you have come here for. Have a great day, everyone, and may the tackles be with you.
DeMario Davis, New Orleans Saints
DeMario Davis starts off this week’s article after doing what he does best, and that’s making tackles. At just over 13 percent owned, Davis and the Saints are in for a long year, which is great for us in the world of IDP. With 22 total tackles in two games so far this season, you can expect at least 140 tackles by the end of the season. Pick him up now before it’s too late.
Payton Wilson, Pittsburgh Steelers
Starts off this season as a starter on one of the best defenses in the NFL. That means he gets to benefit from players like T.J. Watt and DeShon Elliott, who caused turnovers or are accounted for, which led to a sack this week. On top of Wilson’s 15 total tackles, he is only two percent owned, and with everyone focused on Patrick Queen, you’ll be able to get this gridiron monster for practically nothing.
Paulson Adebo, New York Giants
At 31 percent, Paulson Adebo is a player people are finally catching on to, but since he is on the Giants, most people skip over him. Now that some have caught on while recording 20 total tables this season, your time may be running out on a backup or starting cornerback for your team. With the Giants poised to be one of the stepping stones this year in the league, you can bet that Adebo will exceed all of your expectations, and then some.
Kam Curl, Los Angeles Rams
Kam Curl has quietly made a statement himself since joining the Rams’ secondary. With a defensive line like he has in L.A., Curl is a perfect player who could benefit from tipped balls or forced fumbles. With 17 total tackles and being owned in only four percent of leagues, Curl is the perfect player to stash now. That way if you need him now or later, you’ll be two steps ahead of your leagues. Horns up!
Jamien Sherwood, New York Jets
Unlike the other players in this article, Jamien Sherwood is owned a little more at just over 40 percent. What I love about Sherwood is that he was one of my targets this year for my rankings, and rightfully so. Not only is he playing every snap on defense, but he’s also recorded 19 total tackles in the process. With 13 tackles against the Bills, you can expect the same amount of work in Tampa Bay this week against the Buccaneers. Going forward, Sherwood is a must-own, and if he’s available, you should get him now.
